Leak Detection in Roofs and Structural Waterproofing

At Thornton Consulting, we specialise in locating and analysing leaks in buildings and other waterproof structures, whether they originate in the roof or other elements of the building envelope, as well as leaks or dampness in service floors, basements and water pipes.

Managing Director and Principal Consultant, Stephen Thornton, has over 40 years experience in the UK construction industry.  Until he set up his consultancy in 1986, most of this had been in industrial and flat roofing and cladding.  The following year he set up Leaktector which

 

specialised in electronic testing for leaks in flat roofing.

Leaktector has since become synonymous with electronic leak detection in the UK, whilst the service has since extended into investigating leaks anywhere in buildings and construction. 

At the same time he was approached for help on the massive Broadgate development in the City of London.  Following his pioneering work there, he was able to establish electronic testing as a mode of confirming integrity in roof and structural waterproofing membranes to be preferred over the much more cumbersome and time consuming flood testing.  This was a world first which has since become the industry standard.

We operate leak detection, investigation and consultancy services throughout the UK and Ireland, and have also been know to travel abroad!   Our experienced team of field testers, consultants and office management have a very high quality ethic and always provides a professional and prompt approach – no voicemail, answerphones or buttons to press once you get through to our office!
