Roofs with lawns or planting on top of the membrane are largely a modern and growing environmental concept. That said, the Derry and Toms building in Kensington was given a green roof over 100 years ago. When it was refurbished in the 1990’s, we at Thornton Consulting were selected to test the new waterproofing before the finishes were applied.

All new green roofs must have the waterproofing membrane tested by a compatible method, in order that major leak problems are averted in the future.
We can also provide advisory services on selection of membrane systems that are best suited to this application.
