Sheeted Roofs
Leaks in metal, asbestos or fibrous cement roof sheets pose particular problems in their detection, as electronic testing is not possible.
Leak detection in sheeted roofs
Special techniques have to be used, combined with an in-depth understanding of how they are manufactured and installed. By a process of close inspection and simulated rainfall testing, water can be accurately directed at suspect points.
At Thornton Consulting we have successfully determined the cause of many such problems over the years.
PLEASE NOTE:
Some companies offer infra red surveys as a means to leak tracing in sheeted roofs.
Unfortunately, this can be both expensive and inaccurate, although it does produce a range of pretty images. Correct interpretation of infra red is vital if it is to be effective, whereas experience has taught us that going to back to basics relating design and installation to the position of leak sites will normally resolve the problem at much less cost and inconvenience.
